People with negative mental Attitude sees the mud
An extreme case of negative attitude was witnessed on the bank of river Hudson, where Fulton was demonstrating his new found steam boat. All sorts of people had flocked to see how the steam boat floated in the river. The persons with negative attitude started whispering “How could it start without muscle power?” they held their breath until the boat started. As it made its way down the river, the same person who said it would never be started started shouting again. “It would never stop.” it would never stop!” what charitable words would you like to use for such persons?
Another classic example of pessimism appeared in the Indian newspapers. The Agni launch was scheduled for 28th April 1988. This was going to be an unprecedented exercise in the history of Indian defence research. All preparations for the launch went according to the schedule. The whole nation was watching Dr. Abdul kalam, and his team was at T-14 seconds when the computer signaled “Hold” indicating that one of the signals was functioning irritably. It was decided to abort the launch.
The Indian pessimist press was up in arms and made various unceremonious comments for the postponement of the flight. Cartoonist Sudhir Dhar sketched a shopkeeper returning a product to the salesman saying that like Agni it would not take off. The Hindustan times showed a leader consoling press reports “There is no need for any alarm.” Amul’s cartoon suggested that what Agni needed to do was to use their butter as fuel. Agni –it is purely a peaceful non-violent missile. Another cartoonist showed an Agni scientist explanting that the launch was postponed because the press button did not make contact. Dr.kalam and his team were amused to read adverse comments. What happened in just after 33 day? Agni took off at 07.10 am. The critics and the pessimist were silenced forever.
